Plum, Cherry and Cinnamon Cobbler

Introduction
This is such a lovely, rich combination of fruit – I’m usually very sparing with cinnamon when baking (or cooking, for that matter), but here, the robust cherries and plums stand up well to the flavour. A nice autumnal dessert – perfect with clotted cream or crème fraîche on the side.
Ingredients
fresh cherries, stoned and halved | |

soft dark brown sugar | |
ground cinnamon | |
self-raising flour | |
cream of tartar | |
baking powder | |
caster sugar | |
unsalted butter | |
milk | |
medium free-range egg, lightly beaten | |
demerara sugar, to scatter |
