Tasty toffee and marshmallow squares from Mary Berry's 100 Sweet Treats & Puds. A simple and fun recipe that kids will love to make - and love to eat too!

From the book

Introduction

Although these squares are not baked in the oven I have included this recipe because it is very popular with all children. And, with supervision, even very young ones can make them.

Ingredients

100g (4oz) butter
100g (4oz) marshmallows
100g (4oz) dairy toffees
150g (5oz) small puffed-rice cereal

Essential kit

You will need a 30 x 23cm (12 x 9in) oblong baking tin.

Method

Measure the butter, marshmallows and toffees into a thick-based pan and heat gently until the mixture is melted and smooth. This will take about 5 minutes.

Place the small puffed-rice cereal in a bowl. Pour over the toffee mixture and stir well to mix.

Spoon into a 30x23cm (12x9in) oblong baking tin and press flat. Leave in a cool place until quite firm and then cut into squares.
