Who's the author: Dr David Cavan is one of the UK’s leading experts on diabetes self-management with over 20 years experience including as the Director of Policy for the International Diabetes Federation. He now works as an independent consultant supporting the development of diabetes services in the UK and overseas.

Emma Porter is a passionate cook, food writer and creator of the hugely successful blog The Low Carb Kitchen (www.thelowcarbkitchen.co.uk). She was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 2005 and follows a low-carb lifestyle to help manage her condition, whilst spreading a positive attitude towards nutrition and inspiring diabetics all over the world.

What’s it about: Dr David Cavan and Emma Porter have joined forces to create 100 delicious recipes to help people control type 1 and reverse type 2 diabetes by following a low-carb diet that can be enjoyed by the whole family. With recipes such as Carrot and Coriander Fritters, Nutty Mushroom Risotto with Bacon, and Cherry, Chocolate and Coconut Cream Ice Lollies, the book offers a variety of nutritious dishes, from simple breakfasts and tasty snacks, to classic comfort foods and healthy desserts.

Recipes we love: Sweet Potato and Kale Rosti with Baked Eggs, Banana and Peanut Butter Drop Pancakes, Roasted Cod and Chorizo Fishcakes, Blackberry and Pistachio Cake.

Perfect for: This book is the ideal guide for anyone with diabetes or pre-diabetes trying to change how they eat to help manage their condition, yet who still loves to cook and enjoy delicious and satisfying dishes. With a step-by-step weekly meal planner section, it is equally helpful for people looking for inspiration for lighter recipes that are low in carbs and sugar and are easy to make during the week.
