Who’s the author? Gemma Ogston is a plant-based chef who began exploring the benefits of a plant-based diet, with a particular focus on reducing inflammation and improving mental health. This led her to set up her own catering company, Gem’s Wholesome Kitchen, in Brighton, where she now lives.
Initially a word-of-mouth success, Gemma now works regularly with brands like Soho House and Sweaty Betty. She published her first book, The Self-Care Cookbook, in 2019 and has appeared on Saturday Kitchen. She also runs Gem’s Community Kitchen, creating low-cost recipes and running workshops for local schools.
What’s it about? Following on from the success of her first cookbook, Gemma takes self-care to the next level, showing readers how to supercharge their immune system and boost their mood. Presented in four parts, Recovery, Replenish, Staying Well, and Supercharge, this beautiful book outlines the ways we can harness the power of plant-based eating to feel better and – crucially – stay well, giving us the foundations for long-term health.
Using 100% plant-based whole foods, this book contains over 60 delicious recipes that are guaranteed to support and nourish you from the inside out. Beautifully illustrated with enticing photographs throughout, and featuring a comprehensive introduction to healing essentials, this book will set you on the path towards health and vitality.
Recipes we love: Barley and Miso Risotto with Greens and Crispy Shrooms, Super Nourish Stir Fry with Kimchi, and Tummy-loving Simple Stew.
Perfect for: Readers of Gemma’s first book, The Self-Care Cookbook, as well as fans of Dr Megan Rossi, Dr Rupy Aujla, and Hungry Woman by Pauline Cox.
