Start the Day Right (Smoothie)
Start the day right with this delicious breakfast smoothie. Brimming with B vitamin rich oats, this vegan smoothie recipe is a source of slow release energy.
Oats are a great source of B vitamins, which we need for our nervous system to run smoothly. Oats are also extremely soothing to the gut. With the oats and almond milk being high in magnesium, this makes for a very comforting smoothie. It will keep you on an even keel and is a great start to the day, as it produces a slow, steady release of energy.
|1½ tsp||soaked and drained oats|
|250-500ml (1-2 cups)||unsweetened almond milk or filtered water|
|A handful||of kohlrabi or whatever green leaves you have|
|1 tsp||ground cinnamon|
|5cm||piece of root ginger|
You will need a blender.
Soak the oats before you make the smoothie for at least 30 minutes or overnight, then add all the ingredients to your blender and off you go. You can grate the ginger in if you prefer.
