Cardamom and Cinnamon Knots
![Rukmini Iyer’s Cardamom & Cinnamon Knots](https://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/CARDAMON_KNOTS_MINI__0472-scaled-2.jpg)
Introduction
Cardamom is my favourite spice, and these are subsequently my favourite buns – I cannot pass a bakery selling them without buying at least two (one for now, one for later). These are perfect warm with a cup of coffee: if they don’t all get eaten in one go, warm them through before serving the next day, or stash a few in a bag in the freezer for later bun-emergencies.
Ingredients
For the buns: | |
cardamom pods, seeds ground, outer pods discarded
all-purpose sweet dough or vegan sweet dough
For the filling: | |
softened unsalted butter or vegan plant-based spread, cubed ( at room temperature)
cardamom pods, seeds ground, outer pods discarded
cinnamon | |
soft light brown sugar | |
To finish: | |
medium free-range egg, beaten, or oat milk, for brushing |
