Introduction
This is a great way to introduce wholefood plant-based snacks for children who will love helping you prepare this delicious treat. Even the fussiest eaters will enjoy this!
Ingredients
2 | bananas, sliced |
juice of ½ lime | |
2 tbsp | nut butter – cashew or almond probably works best |
1 tbsp | date syrup |
2 tsp | cocoa or cacao powder |
a pinch of | ground cinnamon (optional) |
2 tsp | white sesame seeds |
a few | grapes |
a few | currants |
salt |
Method
Toss the bananas in the lime juice and set aside.
Make the chocolate paste by mixing together the nut butter, date syrup, cocoa or cacao powder and cinnamon. Add a pinch of salt. You should have a thick, malleable paste.
Sandwich the paste with the bananas into two wiggly lines, finishing with a round of banana facing up. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the chocolate for a dappled effect. Cut the grapes in half and then into slices and arrange on either side of the banana caterpillars for legs. Press currants into the upturned round of banana for eyes and draw a smile on with a skewer. Use grape stems for antennae.
