The Jewish Bakery

Written by

Jennifer Rinkoff

What’s it about? The Jewish Bakery brings more than a century of baking tradition into the home kitchen, sharing over 100 recipes from Rinkoffs, the family-run Jewish bakery founded in London’s East End in 1911. Passed down and developed across generations, this collection of recipes celebrates the breads, cakes and bakes that have become part of the bakery’s story.

You’ll find a balance of tradition and creativity throughout this beautiful cookbook, with much-loved Jewish specialities such as challah, babka and beigels sitting alongside more contemporary bakes. Recipes range from simple projects to more involved creations, offering plenty for both novice bakers and those keen to expand their repertoire. More than a collection of recipes, this book shares the knowledge and experience of a family business while celebrating the Jewish baking traditions at its heart.

Who’s the author? Jennifer Rinkoff is the great-granddaughter of Ukrainian immigrant Hyman Rinkoff, who founded Rinkoffs in East London in 1911. As a fourth-generation Rinkoff baker, Jennifer grew up surrounded by the recipes and traditions that have shaped the family business.

Today, Jennifer leads new product development and marketing for Rinkoffs, creating new recipes while preserving old, familiar favourites. The Jewish Bakery draws together that hands-on experience with recipes rooted in more than a century of family history.

Recipes we love: Challah, Beigels, Matcha Babka, and Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread.

Perfect for: Bakers who want to explore Jewish baking, from time-honoured family favourites to creative modern bakes.
