What’s it about? There are few things more comforting than a proper pub meal, and Pub Grub brings that same cosy, satisfying food into your own kitchen. Inspired by George Darbyshire’s hugely popular online series of the same name, this book brings together 100 recipes celebrating British pub classics alongside fresh takes on familiar flavours.

The recipes in this book are designed to be genuinely useful, with easy-to-find supermarket ingredients and straightforward methods that make pub favourites achievable at home. You’ll also find money- and time-saving options throughout, so you can choose an approach that works with your budget and schedule. Full of hearty, nostalgic dishes, Pub Grub has plenty of inspiration for Sunday lunches, cold-weather dinners and those evenings when only proper comfort food will do.

Who’s the author? George Darbyshire is a home cook from Buxton, Derbyshire, who grew up above his parents’ fish and chip shop, where his love of comforting British food began. He has since built a large online following with his no-fuss recipes, which reach millions of people each month.

George is the creator of the popular Pub Grub online series, celebrating the British classics people love to cook and eat at home. He also runs the summer food festival Eat in the Park. Pub Grub is his debut cookbook.

Recipes we love: Lamb & Root Veg Stew with Pearl Barley, Butter Chicken Pie with Buttered Naan Crust, Sausage, Apple & Cider Casserole, and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Perfect for: Anyone who loves classic British pub food and wants hearty, comforting recipes that are easy to recreate at home.
