Who’s the author? Tarunima Sinha (@mylittlecaketin) is a self-taught baker who moved to the UK from northeast India in 2001. After immersing herself in the world of baking, Tarunima started her own business creating beautiful floral cakes and bakes, named ‘My Little Cake Tin’ after the chapatti tin she used to bake her first creations.
Her bakes have won a number of Great Taste awards and her recipes have been featured in The Observer, Waitrose Food Magazine, The Guardian, Delicious, and more.
What’s it about? Every baker owns a round cake tin – but how many of us fully appreciate how versatile and hardworking it can be? Tarunima Sinha’s glorious cake creations are the stuff of Instagram dreams, but her baking journey started with repurposing an old 20cm chapatti tin from her childhood.
Now, as @mylittlecaketin, she has devised breathtaking recipes for everything from sponges to lamingtons to cheesecakes to friands, all made with that most basic of baking items.
In this stunning book, Tarunima uses her clever approach to flavour to take you through every cake recipe you’ll ever need, many of which use flavours and ingredients from Tarunima’s Indian heritage. The result is a collection of over 70 delicious recipes (including a dedicated chapter for free-from recipes) covering reinvented classics, seasonal everyday cakes, beautiful bakes from around the world, dessert-inspired cakes, special occasion showstoppers, and more – all created in a single tin!
Recipes we love: Passion Fruit, Cardamom and Olive Oil Cake, Egg-Free Berries and Fresh Cream Cake, Australian Lamington, and Pistachio and Blood Orange Cake.
Perfect for: Followers of @mylittlecaketin as well as fans of Jane’s Patisserie, Fitwaffle and popular baking shows like The Great British Bake Off.
