Who’s the author? Tim Anderson is a chef, food writer and 2011 MasterChef winner with a deep knowledge of Japanese cuisine. Originally from the US, he has spent over two decades studying Japan’s food culture and is known for making its flavours and cooking traditions accessible to home cooks around the world.

Tim is the author of several bestselling cookbooks, including the popular JapanEasy series, Hokkaido, and the award-winning Tokyo Stories, all of which showcase his approachable, ingredient-led style.

What’s it about? JapanEasy Kitchen is all about making the most of a handful of key Japanese pantry staples and turning them into dishes you’ll want to cook again and again.

With chapters covering kombu and katsuobushi, miso, soy sauce, sake, mirin and rice vinegar, rice and noodles, tofu, ponzu, yuzu juice and yuzu kosho, curry roux, and tea and other beverages, the recipes in JapanEasy Kitchen are designed to be simple, flexible and full of flavour. From quick side dishes and satisfying mains to drinks and desserts, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for re-imagining your favourite Japanese ingredients.

Recipes we love: Watermelon and Avocado Sunomono, Wafu Rarebit, Baked Crabby Udon, Treacle Tamari Ribs, and Hon-Mirin Mont Blanc

Perfect for: Home cooks who want easy, flavourful ways to use Japanese ingredients and bring something new to their everyday meals.
