Classic Iced or Hot Matcha Latte
Recreate JENKI’s most-ordered drink at home: the matcha latte. This recipe can be adapted to make either a hot or iced version of the drink, depending on your preference.
Introduction
The JENKI staple. We serve this iced with coconut milk, or hot with oat – it’s how we like it best.
Ingredients
| For the matcha shot | |
|---|---|
| 3g (1 tsp) | matcha, sifted |
| 40 ml (1½ fl oz) | water at 60-80°C (140-176°F) |
| For the iced matcha latte | |
| ice | |
| 200 ml (7 fl oz/scant 1 cup) | coconut milk |
| For the hot matcha latte | |
| 200 ml (7 fl oz/scant 1 cup) | oat milk |
Method
Prepare the matcha shot: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha with the water using fast, back-and-forth motions until smooth and frothy.
To make the iced latte, add ice and coconut milk to a glass, then pour over the matcha shot and enjoy.
To make the hot latte, add the shot of matcha to your mug, then steam or heat your milk and pour it over your shot.
Note: JENKI recommends using a bamboo whisk (chasen) to prepare the matcha shot.
