Who are the authors? Simon Hopkinson is a food writer, critic and former chef. Born in Bury, Lancashire, he left school at 17 to pursue a career in food and went on to become one of the most celebrated chefs of his generation. He founded his first restaurant, The Shed, shortly before turning 21 and worked at restaurants including Hilaire on Old Brompton Road and Bibendum, which he founded with Terence Conran and Paul Hamlyn in 1987.

Lindsey Bareham is a celebrated food writer and journalist whose words have appeared in Time OutThe Evening Standard, and The Times.
