Who’s the author? Food writer, recipe developer and chef Keshia Sakarah grew up in Leicester’s small Caribbean community, where she developed a love of food early on. Of Montserratian and Barbudan heritage, she set up London restaurant with the aim of bringing the extraordinary food traditions of her and her family’s history to a wider audience.
Keshia’s recipes have featured in a wide range of publications including Waitrose Weekend, Guardian Feast and BBC Good Food. She’s also appeared on BBC Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour and Masterchef: The Professionals.
What’s it about? Caribe is Keshia’s debut cookbook, offering a fascinating journey across the whole Caribbean calling in at Barbados, Cuba and Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico and The Dutch West Indies.
But it doesn’t stop there: this book is the product of years of research and travel throughout the region, making it a first-of-its-kind cookbook that features dishes from every Caribbean nation.
Alongside much-loved recipes for everything from breakfast through to dinner, Caribe is filled with incredible photography and explorations into the area’s varied and often complicated social and culinary history.
