Who's the author?: Matthew Jones, Justin Gellatly and Louise Gellatly are the formidable trio behind one of London's most esteemed bakeries, Bread Ahead. Founded in 2013 and located in popular Borough Market, Bread Ahead has become synonymous not just with fantastic bread and instafamous doughnuts, but its baking school, which now teaches over 300 students a week.

What's it about?: A practical and realistic manual for bakers of all levels, the Bread Ahead cookbook is the ultimate guide to successful baking at home, teaching readers what is possible using just basic household equipment and a passion for all things dough. Divided into chapters based on different cuisines, it includes recipes for bread, biscuits, pastries and more from across the world, from Italian focaccia to Finnish piparkakut.

Recipes we love: Caramel Custard and Salted Honeycomb Doughnuts, No Knead Sourdough, Fougasse and New York Pretzels.

Good book for: Both budding bakers or kneading newbies keen to learn how to create delicious baked goods from a variety of cultures.
