Inside Cookery Ebooks

by The Happy Foodie & The Penguin Random House Ebooks Team

published on 19 July 2016

Is your bookshelf starting to groan beneath piles of cookbooks? Can't get hold of one of your old favourites as it's at the bottom of a cookbook mountain? Well then it might be time to explore our dazzling range of cookery ebooks. Here we've picked out some of our favourite recent titles tailored for digital, from the beautifully styled suppers of Georgina Hayden to the timeless classics of Mary Berry. Have a nosy and prepare yourself to see cookbooks in a whole new light.

Super Food Family Classics by Jamie Oliver

Jamie's Super Food Family Classics continues with the popular philosophy behind Jamie's Everyday Super Food, bringing exciting healthy eating to the heart of the home. Freshen up your family favourites and expand your recipe repertoire with new nutritious, tasty meals – make your weekly menu something to shout about.

From the book

The graphics are super-sharp and the ebook features a unique design that pushes the boundaries of cookery ebooks; just turn to the ingredient of your choice — chicken, lamb, pasta, and more — where the dishes are presented as a beautiful grid of images, and find something that suits your fancy. How about crispy trout, oats and thyme? Maybe a prawn curry? Just give the image a quick tap and voila! You're taken straight to the recipe. It's as fast as the cooking, and there's no need to hungrily flip pages.

Stirring Slowly: Recipes to Restore and Revive by Georgina Hayden

On the gentler and more sumptuous side of the cooking spectrum, Georgina Hayden's Stirring Slowly slows down cooking in the search for the most delicious of flavours. As a part of the Jamie Oliver team, Georgie brings a range of handy tips and tricks to the kitchen, embracing the ritual, routine and process of cooking. A few weeks before Stirring Slowly came out, a teaser eshort, A Week of Stirring Slowly, was released. This was a free digital-only mini-cookbook featuring recipes from the full version of Stirring Slowly, all displayed in fresh and high-resolution images. The full ebook version of Stirring Slowly is no less beautiful and equally as dazzling.

Eat Beautiful by Wendy Rowe

Make-up artist and beauty consultant Wendy Rowe promises no shortcuts and no miracle cures in her debut cookbook, but emphasises sensible ingredient and meal selection, as she wants to 'inspire you to think more about the food you eat and what it can do for your skin'.

The digital edition makes it easier than ever to access vital information about what you're eating. Each recipe ends with a featured ingredient – tap 'mint' at the end of 'fresh mint petit pois' and you're taken to a detailed overview of the plant's history as well as the minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals it contains. The book also explains just what phytochemicals are, for those curious.

Foolproof Cooking by Mary Berry

In this rich and bright cookbook, Bake Off stalwart Mary Berry plates up recipes that are immune to baking blunders, measuring miscalculations and culinary catastrophes with her trademark steady hand and foolproof step-by-step advice.

Over 120 great-tasting recipes are peppered with tips on all kinds of kitchen tricks – but if you're e-reading you won't have to bother with page numbers. Just hit 'see here' and you're whisked to the tip you want, which is presented in a crisp and collected colour scheme. You can drop in bookmarks throughout for easy access to favourite recipes, and type a favourite meal into your device's search bar and you're away.
