Episode 1
In episode one, Mary is joined by comedian Tom Allen on a leisurely boat ride, stopping along the way to cook some of Mary’s favourite recipes, new and old. They enjoy Mary’s mother’s classic recipe for Bread and Butter Pudding, a brand-new recipe for a fragrant Thai-inspired chicken traybake, a delicious twist on a cottage pie with cauliflower mash, and pan-fried cod with capers, which appears in the cookbook of the series as pan-fried skate, but you can easily use either fish.
Episode 2
In episode two, Mary shows sports broadcaster Gabby Logan how to make some of her best easy recipes. The two reflect on Mary’s experience being a working mum and one of the first TV cooks 50 years ago, and how this has shaped Mary’s focus on time-saving recipes for busy families. Together they make a freezer-friendly mac and cheese, an easy to make ahead gravadlax with dill sauce, tender Horseradish Beef Cheeks, and a delicious New York style cheesecake.
