James Morton

Doctor, Scottish baker, brewer and runner-up of the third Great British Bake Off series in 2012, James Morton is now author of several cookbooks, including the award-winning Brilliant Bread and How Baking Works. James learnt to bake with his granny, growing up on the Shetland Isles, which also inspired his latest 2018 cookbook, Shetland: Cooking on the Edge of the World. 

James has also written for the Sunday Mail and has appeared on TV shows, including Sunday Brunch. He blogs at and regularly Tweets @bakingjames.
