Looking to make some little changes for a healthier everyday lifestyle? Yasmine Larizadeh and Shirin Kouros, authors of The Good Life Eatery cookbook, give us their top 6 tips for everyday healthy living and eating.
1. Enjoy full meals
Make sure to eat three full meals, rather than snacking your way through the day. This way, your body (and your mind) gets the satisfaction of a full plate of food and you’re less likely to be left peckish at the end of the day.
2. Drink water!
Staying hydrated is super important. A lot of the time when we’re hungry, we’re actually just thirsty and our body is trying to get water in any way it can. Why not try hot water and lemon in the morning to get your day going?
3. Exercise for pleasure
Exercise always gives a great rush of endorphins and is an excellent way to work off any tension. But don’t force yourself to do something you don’t like. Would rather skip the gym? Then try dancing, boxing, hiking or playing sport – something that will leave you with a smile on your face.
4. Cook fresh – but don’t avoid help
Try and cook your meals with fresh ingredients. By doing this you know exactly what’s going into your food and you’re getting its maximum nutritional value. However, don’t avoid help! If you’re busy, don’t be afraid to buy items like pre-chopped vegetables to save you time in the kitchen.
5. Probiotics
Probiotics have loads of different health benefits and are wonderful for maintaining general health and balance in the body. We like to get extra good bacteria into our diet by eating fermented foods.
6. Prep your food
Make your life a little bit easier by prepping food in advance. Getting into the habit of food prep helps with routine, saving time and cooking fresh.
