Who’s the author? Sarah Woods left a corporate role at a pharmaceutical company to pursue her love of food after a successful TV debut on BBC One’s Britain’s Best Home Cook. During the lockdowns of 2020 Sarah started a successful desi food collection business, and now regularly hosts supper clubs and pop-up restaurants in her home town of Wilmslow, showcasing her passion for making authentic Indian home cooking accessible to everyone.
What’s it about? Inspired by her family’s heritage, Sarah’s cookbook Desi Kitchen is a culinary exploration into the evolution and adaptation of recipes brought to Britain by generations of South Asian immigrants. Featuring dishes such as Onion Bhaji Scotch Eggs, Peshawari Bread and Butter Pudding, and Neeps and Tatties Keema Pie, Desi Kitchen is a celebration of East-meets-West food fusion. Each chapter explores a different area of the UK, including not just flavour-packed recipes inspired by the local desi community, but the stories and history of the region as well. With plenty of inspiration for breakfasts, light meals, dinners and sweet treats Desi Kitchen features vibrant and delicious dishes for every day and every occasion.
Recipes we love: Fish Tacos in Thepla Flatbread, Carrot and Kale Bhajis, Sticky Mango Chicken Wings, and Whole Roast Tandoori Chicken.
