published on 19 May 2016

Inspired by the hit TV series Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution – which is all about celebrating good, fresh, real food – we’re following in Jamie’s footsteps and getting stuck into some family friendly recipes that celebrate amazing fresh ingredients cooked at home.

Salmon & Pesto-dressed Vegetables

Salmon & Pesto-dressed Vegetables

Salmon is a great source of both omega 3, which helps to keep our hearts healthy, and vitamin D that helps to make our bones and teeth strong. Pan-frying salmon is an easy way to get more oily fish our diets – served with delicious, pesto-dressed potatoes and greens, it’s a great weeknight dinner.

DIY Oaty Fruity Cereal

Eating a tasty, nutritious breakfast is a great way to help kick-start your day the best way you can. Make a big batch of healthy cereal, then store it in an airtight container for up to four weeks. I’ve given you two great ways to serve it here, but feel free to come up with your own ideas.

Classic Tomato Spaghetti

This is a fantastic midweek meal. Once you’ve made this a few times you can add other simple ingredients, such as baby spinach, chopped rocket leaves, or fresh or frozen peas, to your basic tomato sauce to completely transform it.

Veggie Noodle Stir-fry

A great way to make sure you’re getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs is to eat the rainbow. Eating a mixture of different coloured vegetables, like in this stir-fry, will help you do that. This dish will give you two of your 5-a-day. Of course, feel free to use whatever vegetables you have in the fridge – this is a great dish for using up leftovers too!

Lamb & Chickpea Curry

Making a curry from scratch doesn’t need to be complicated. When it comes to curry, the herbs and spices are the stars of the show. As long as you stock up on those and follow these simple instructions, you’ll be cooking up an incredible curry that is far tastier and healthier than a takeaway.
